StarWalker Extreme: Exploring New Frontiers in Design

The Montblanc StarWalker collection expands with the latest StarWalker Extreme. Since 2003, StarWalker has reflected Montblanc's fascination with space exploration and discovery, and now it receives a fresh interpretation. At its core, the edition carries the same ambition of humankind to push beyond the ordinary and discover new worlds.

Inspiration

The new StarWalker Extreme captures the energy of a rocket lift-off while taking design cues from the Montblanc Extreme leather collection. The pattern on the edition is inspired by the artworks of Grete Gross, Montblanc's Head of Advertising during the 1920s, whose geometric designs were greatly influenced by the Bauhaus movement of the time. From another perspective, the pattern could also symbolise the straight and diagonal lines created during the testing of a fountain pen nib.

Design & Materials

The floating Montblanc emblem inside the transparent dome on the cap's finial has always been a distinctive design element of the collection. To recreate the glowing flames of a rocket launch, Montblanc has placed a translucent blaze-orange sub-dome within the transparent dome.

The StarWalker Extreme collection is available in three versions, each offering a different interpretation of the same design.

Precious Resin Edition features a matte black precious resin cap and barrel decorated with the Montblanc Extreme pattern. Ruthenium-coated fittings, clip, cone, and black resin rings complete the understated appearance.

Doué Edition combines a matte black precious resin barrel with a ruthenium-coated metal cap. The interplay between the textured resin and polished metal creates an interesting contrast while maintaining the collection's modern character.

Metal Edition is crafted entirely from black PVD-coated metal. The cap and barrel are laser engraved with the Montblanc Extreme pattern, creating a durable finish with a tactile feel.

Across all three editions, ruthenium-coated fittings add a smoke-grey finish that complements the monochromatic design, while the blaze-orange sub-dome at the top of the cap adds a pop of colour.

Writing Experience

Every StarWalker Extreme fountain pen is fitted with a 14k (Au 585) ruthenium-coated gold nib and uses a piston converter filling system for bottled ink.

The edition is also available as a Fineliner and Ballpoint Pen, allowing users to choose the writing instrument that best suits their everyday needs.
