Inspiration

To create the new collection, the German manufacturer turned to thuja burl wood, a rare, highly fragrant and exotic wood species native to the Atlas Mountains of Morocco. Its naturally intricate grain gives each piece a unique character, with swirling patterns that vary from one writing instrument to another. The wood’s rich golden-brown and dark brown hues create a superb contrast with the platinum-plated metal elements, giving the writing instrument a distinctive presence. As a result, no two writing instruments look exactly alike.

Design & Materials

Design-wise, the series follows the iconic geometry of the Classic line that has brought the brand global recognition. Each writing instrument is crafted from thuja burl wood, which is carefully inspected for any defects before moving to the assembly stage. The metal trim and hardware are platinum-plated and polished to a mirror finish.

Writing Experience & Collectibility

The collection consists of four writing instruments: a fountain pen, rollerball, ballpoint pen and propelling pencil. The fountain pen is fitted with a handmade 18K bicolor gold nib and comes in six nib widths: EF, F, M, B, OM and OB, offering options ranging from fine everyday writing to broader and oblique styles.

While the series is not presented as a limited edition, the natural variation of thuja burl wood gives every instrument an individual appearance. For collectors who appreciate natural materials, this means choosing a pen whose grain and pattern will never be exactly repeated on another barrel.

A dark brown wooden presentation case accompanies the writing instruments, with Cognac Brown ink and a Golden Brown A5 notebook also offered as matching accessories.
