High Artistry A Tribute to Craftsmanship Limited Edition 1994 Coffret

For its latest High Artistry collection, Montblanc turned to Asia, where craftsmanship – though upheld by a handful of artisans – continues to be practiced, preserved, and passed down to a new generation of craftsmen devoted to this art. The new collection pays homage to craftsmanship as well as the generations of master artisans whose dedication, precision, and savoir-faire continue to shape some of the world's most remarkable creations.

Inspiration

Among the editions introduced is the High Artistry A Tribute to Craftsmanship Limited Edition 1994 Coffret, a writing instrument that translates cultural symbolism into a refined design rich in artisanal detail.

Design & Materials

The edition is crafted from vibrant vermilion precious resin, a colour traditionally associated with vitality and protection. Black precious resin accents provide contrast throughout the design, while the iconic Montblanc emblem in white precious resin crowns the cap.

At the centre of the writing instrument, Montblanc has finely engraved a crane motif filled with black lacquer. Revered in Japanese culture as a symbol of longevity, peace, and good fortune, the crane is depicted performing its graceful mating dance. This poetic scene is further echoed on the accompanying fine stationery notebook included within the coffret.

The handcrafted 18k gold nib is decorated with a delicate sakura blossom, a symbolic reminder of life's fleeting beauty. Gold-coated details further enhance the design, complementing the vermilion hue and the gold nib. The edition also includes a bottle of vermilion-red ink, reflecting the vibrant colour of the writing instrument itself.

Writing Experience & Collectability

Writing with this instrument is elevated not only by the 18k gold nib – perfected by Montblanc through a 35-step process and over a century of expertise – but also by the symbolism it carries and the occasion it celebrates.

The Montblanc High Artistry A Tribute to Craftsmanship Limited Edition 1994 Coffret is limited to 1,994 pieces worldwide, referencing the year Kyoto's historic monuments were designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site – one of Japan's most significant cultural landmarks.

The collection is presented as a complete writing set with matching vermilion-red ink and notebook.
