Souveran M600 Art Collection Takes Cues from Georg Tippel's Historic Poster

Pelikan expands its Art Collection series with a new edition inspired by Georg Tippel's historic poster, one of the defining works of the brand's early visual heritage.

Inspiration

Returning for its third edition, the Pelikan Art Collection draws inspiration from Grundfarben, a historic poster created by Georg Tippel in 1899 for Pelikan's first poster competition. Back in the day, artwork like this was a powerful marketing asset, and it has since become part of Pelikan's artistic heritage. To bring it back to life for today's enthusiasts, Pelikan reimagined it on the classic M600.

Design & Materials

Rather than recreating the entire poster, Pelikan reinterprets its flowing cloud formations as an abstract pattern across the barrel. The complex design is achieved using Pelikan's Aurora process. To create depth and a distinctive shimmering effect, the finely engraved guilloché is covered with multiple layers of lacquer. Warm brown translucent resin and gold-plated trims complete the elegant appearance.

Writing Experience & Collectibility

The Souverän M600 is equipped with Pelikan's reliable piston-filling mechanism, continuously refined over the years, and a smooth two-tone 14k gold nib, available in EF, F, M, and B widths. The edition is presented in a book-style gift box featuring a miniature reproduction of Tippel's original poster. With only 225 pieces available worldwide, this edition is a true collector's piece, bringing together both the brand's engineering and its early visual heritage.
