Varius Lights – Jewelry Brilliance Meets Haute Écriture

For its latest Haute Écriture creation, Caran d’Ache explores the interplay of light, guilloché, and precious materials through the new Varius Lights Limited Edition. First introduced on the Léman series in 2021, the “Lights” design language now makes its way – five years later – to the Varius.

Inspiration

The edition draws inspiration from the dazzling brilliance of baguette-cut diamonds, translated by the Maison’s skilled craftsmen into a radiant guilloché pattern that creates shifting reflections across the surface, constantly changing depending on how the pen catches the light.

Design & Materials

Crafted from brass with a palladium-plated silver finish, the Varius Lights combines polished surfaces with finely engraved guilloché to enhance depth and luminosity.
The top of the cap is crowned by a marbled black onyx cabochon, with each stone displaying naturally unique veining patterns. Watch-inspired detailing, including the button with the crown-style guilloché, further reinforces the collection’s sophisticated flair.

The Collection is available as a fountain pen, rollerball, and ballpoint pen and is limited to only 100 pieces per writing instrument.

Writing Experience

Equipped with a rhodium-coated 18k gold nib, the fountain pen delivers the smooth writing experience characteristic of the Varius line, while the subtly three-dimensional guilloché enhances the tactile feel, contributing to the instrument’s substantial yet comfortable ergonomics.
