Toile de Jouy Bordeaux: The Spirit of Geneva

Caran d'Ache celebrates Geneva, its hometown since 1915, drawing inspiration from the city's most iconic landmarks.

Inspiration

The collection reinterprets Toile de Jouy, a traditional French textile design known for its detailed illustrations of pastoral scenes, landscapes and everyday life. The design shares many of the qualities that define Caran d'Ache's Haute Écriture, particularly its attention to detail, precision of line, the richness of colour and the emotion of writing. For this limited edition, the Swiss manufacturer has adapted the traditional technique to depict some of Geneva's most recognisable sights.

Design & Materials

Among the writing instruments and accessories in the collection, the Léman stands out with a distinctive milled guilloché pattern on the cap, inspired by the cobblestones of Geneva's Place du Bourg-de-Four. The brass barrel is finished with several layers of glossy, pearlescent burgundy lacquer, contrasting with the silver-toned cap and trim.

Writing Experience

The Special Edition is available as a fountain pen and a ballpoint, each accompanied by a matching burgundy leather pouch. The fountain pen is fitted with a rhodium-plated 18k gold nib, available in fine, medium and broad widths, and uses a classic cartridge/converter filling system compatible with Caran d'Ache Chromatics ink cartridges. The ballpoint relies on Caran d'Ache's famous Goliath refill, capable of writing up to 600 A4 pages before needing to be replaced.

Each writing instrument comes in a premium cardboard gift box decorated with a burgundy and beige Toile de Jouy pattern. The box features a drawer-style opening with a burgundy ribbon, making it a lovely place to keep your pen when not in use.

The Toile de Jouy Geneva Edition is part of Caran d'Ache's 2026 festive collection.
