Delta Colosseum Demonstrator & Peace: Two Classics Return from the Archives

Two Delta classics have resurfaced after more than 20 years. Recently discovered in the brand's archives in brand-new condition, the Delta Colosseum Demonstrator and Peace bring back the unmistakable Italian flair that made the brand a favourite among collectors, in a highly limited run of just nine pieces per design.

Inspiration

The Delta Colosseum Demonstrator was introduced in 1998 as an ultra-exclusive evolution of the celebrated Colosseum Limited Edition. Taking design cues from the original edition while preserving the vintage orange celluloid parts that brought it worldwide recognition, the Demonstrator honours the side-lever filling mechanism – the innovation that completely revolutionised how fountain pens operated during the 1920s and 1930s – offering users a window into the inside of the pen, where all the magic happens. Meanwhile, the Delta Peace, released in 2006, was inspired by a commission for Pope Benedict XVI, who requested a fountain pen dedicated to world peace. The edition became Delta's tribute to one of humanity's most universal values.

Design & Materials

The Delta Colosseum Demonstrator pairs vibrant vintage Italian orange-and-black celluloid with a transparent barrel machined from a solid block of clear material. Every transparent component was meticulously polished inside and out, allowing the side-lever mechanism, ink sac, and filling process to remain fully visible, much to the user's delight.

The Delta Peace edition evokes the central message conveyed by its name through a finely executed detail on the cap: a three-dimensional cabochon depicting a dove carrying an olive branch – perhaps the world's most recognised symbol of peace. With this edition, Delta saw writing as a way of bringing people closer and reinforced the idea that every person has the power to leave a mark through dialogue and peace.

Writing Experience & Collectibility

The Delta Colosseum Demonstrator is fitted with Delta's famous 18k gold nib while the Peace edition features a 14k gold nib, both known among collectors for their exceptional smoothness. The writing experience doesn't stop at the nib; it's further enhanced by the traditional side-lever filling system, an absolute marvel for purists, allowing users to connect with the ritual of filling a fountain pen the traditional way. More than 20 years after their original launch, only nine brand-new pieces of each edition remain available worldwide, making this a rare opportunity to secure one of Delta's most beloved classics.
