Toile de Jouy Limited Edition: A Stroll Through Geneva

With the new Toile de Jouy Limited Edition, Caran d’Ache pays homage to its Genevan heritage and the craftsmanship that has defined the Maison since 1915.

Inspiration

Inspired by Toile de Jouy, a traditional French textile design known for depicting pastoral scenes and everyday life, the Swiss manufacturer has reinterpreted the motif to feature some of Geneva’s most familiar sights.

Design & Materials

The Toile de Jouy builds on the iconic Léman silhouette and features a brass barrel and cap finished in glossy, pearlescent burgundy lacquer. Some of Geneva’s most recognisable landmarks, including the Jet d’Eau, the Pont du Mont-Blanc and Bourg-de-Four Square, home to the Caran d’Ache boutique in the heart of the city’s Old Town, are finely engraved onto the surface, revealing the gold-plated finish.

To connect these little fragments of the city, the Maison has incorporated elements such as clouds and a hot-air balloon, taking the writer on a journey through Geneva. The Toile de Jouy decoration requires nearly one hour of high-precision machining per writing instrument.

Writing Experience & Collectibility

The limited edition is available as a fountain pen and a rollerball, both measuring 141 mm in length and 14.8 mm in diameter and weighing 56 g, offering a well-balanced feel in hand. The fountain pen is fitted with an 18k yellow gold nib that complements the gold-plated trim, with a choice of extra-fine, fine, medium, and broad nib widths. It uses Caran d’Ache’s classic cartridge/converter filling system. Each writing instrument is limited to 60 pieces and features a “1 in 60” engraving on the back of the cap button.

The collection is presented in a wooden Caran d’Ache case lined with imitation leather and accompanied by a limited edition certificate.
