Longcap Ebonite Red & Silver Fountain Pen

The LONGCAP is a handcrafted fountain pen with a barrel made from fine ebonite in the distinctive “50% Red” finish – a black-and-red composition with a lively grain and striking contrast. The ebonite is sourced from the Schönberger Ebonite Manufaktur (SEM) in Hitzacker, Germany, and its carefully polished surface brings out the characteristic pattern while preserving the material’s warm, organic feel. The cap is crafted from solid silver and individually finished by hand. Every component is crafted from solid material, creating a consistent sense of materiality throughout the writing instrument. Each piece is individually numbered, with its reference number uniquely placing it within THE NINE 2026.

The design is reduced to the essential: a simple cylinder that gives the materials room to speak for themselves and puts their character at the forefront. The proportions, weight and surfaces have been deliberately considered to create a sense of calm – both visually and to the touch. An inlay of the same ebonite in the cap echoes the material of the barrel, adding a subtle accent and contributing to the pen’s balanced feel in the hand.
