The Manyo ink collection by Sailor draws its name from the 'Manyosyu'—Japan's most ancient and celebrated poetry anthology, known as the 'Collection of Ten Thousand Leaves'. This remarkable literary work gathers more than 4,000 verses composed across four centuries by individuals from every social stratum, ranging from imperial courts to rural communities. Floral imagery holds profound significance throughout Japanese artistic tradition, with approximately 1,500 poems in the collection devoted to flowers. Inspired by this legacy, Sailor selected botanical references from the Manyosyu to christen each ink in this distinguished range.
