The SHORTCAP is a handcrafted fountain pen made entirely from solid 935 silver, featuring a distinctive hand-hammered surface. Every component is crafted from solid material, finished by hand and individually numbered, with its reference number uniquely identifying it within THE NINE 2026.

Elegant and refined, with a striking presence, the SHORTCAP reveals its craftsmanship at first glance. Its shortened cap exposes the finely knurled silver grip section, highlighting the technical precision and meticulous handwork behind this exceptional writing instrument.

The clean, elongated form is deliberately interrupted by the vertically knurled grip section. The precisely cut 0.5 mm grooves provide a secure grip and controlled nib guidance, combining functional precision with a distinctive visual detail. Hundreds of individual hammer strikes create the lively texture of the silver surface, catching and breaking the light to give the pen its distinctive character. Every mark remains a visible expression of the hand that created it.

ELBWOOD works from solid material throughout, including the mechanical and structural components and all concealed elements, creating a continuous sense of materiality both visually and to the touch.

Over time, the silver develops a fine patina through use, adding depth and individuality to each piece. The surface can be polished back to a brighter finish whenever desired. This natural evolution is an inherent expression of the material rather than a flaw.
